Pull Chain Pour Panting

It's the first Friday of the month and today's the day I bring you a fun themed craft to share at Bring On the Crafts Blog Hop!
The theme for this month is Paint!

I really don't like painting - at all! It's just me! I get impatient and usually mess things up. I consider it a necessary evil in creating some craft projects. When I saw the topic for this month's Bring on the Crafts Challenge - Paint - my heart sank a bit. What was I going to make? Ugh!  I could have just painted another pumpkin or any small item for that matter, but where's the creativity in that?  But, believe it or not, I've been wanting to try another technique using pour medium that's popular right now. Pull Chain Pour Painting. I've done pull string painting and paint pour using a strainer, and I was really curious about what type of design would appear pulling a paint filled chain across a canvas. So, let's see how this one turned out!

Supplies:
  • Canvas
  • Acrylic paint - DecoArt Americana (bright yellow and mulberry)
  • DecoArt Pour Medium
  • Ball chain
  • Foam brush
  • Squirt bottles
  • Toothpick
First, cover work surface with plastic or parchment paper since it can get quite messy! Next, mix white acrylic paint with pour medium. I mixed half acrylic paint and half pour medium together and poured it onto the canvas for the background .  .  .

applying it over the canvas surface using a sponge brush.
Next, after mixing one part yellow paint to one part pour medium and the same for the mulberry color in small squirt bottles, begin adding paint to the ball chain in sections, alternating paint colors and leaving the end of the chain paint free to pick up and hold.
Next, lift the chain up and decide where you want to start on the canvas .  .  .
and begin laying the chain down in a snake-like, side-ways figure .  .  .
pulling slowly down from the bottom and off the canvas creating an amazing image.
To add more paint to the chain and start a new pull, lay it back down into the previous paint line and refresh with a bit more paint, if needed. Use the opposite ends of a toothpick to help move the chain around with paint coverage.
Continue placing the paint dipped chain down in a similar fashion, as before, on different areas of the canvas, and pulling down and off .  .  .
creating different, interesting design variations.

  7. Properly packaging a variety of foods can be a good idea. These Custom 200ml Bottle Packaging Boxes are used to market a variety of beverages. Or you can keep them as a gift or at home for beauty.
