Autumn Leaves

I wanted to make something to decorate a very large white (ivory) pumpkin that I recently got at Michaels. For that particular sale I could buy a humongous pumpkin for 50 percent off, plus an additional 20 percent off for shopping that day. What a deal! I didn't want to permanently change the appearance of the white pumpkin.  I liked the way it looked.  I just wanted to enhance it a bit by adding something.   I decided to make leaves out of plastic canvas, the kind you use in embroidery or needlepoint.  It's very cheap, and you can get it in different colors. I even found the canvas in ivory, an exact match to the pumpkin.

I guess you're wondering how I'm going to do this?  Well, it's pretty simple.

First, I found a leaf pattern online, sized it to full page, and cut it out of the canvas.

Next, after spreading modge podge over the canvas leaf,  I added a mixture of glitter, sequins and modge podge to the canvas.

Then I added seed beads to the mix and placed it completely around as a border on the leaf.

I made four leaves for the pumpkin  .   .   .
I found a butterfly ornament (Christmas aisle) at the dollar store that matched perfectly  .   .   .   .

Added a little bead twist to the stalk  .   .    .

You can see I made some small leaves to decorate my candles  .   .   .

I love the way the leaves on the pumpkin look.  How about you?

Enjoy!
