I planted lily bulbs back in late March not knowing if they would sprout into full plants. I'm not one to start plants from seeds or bulbs . . . . I don't have what you would call a "green thumb" and I usually want to actually see what I'm getting, but I couldn't resist buying the bulbs while shopping at BJ's. Lilies are suppose to be "easy care, showy flowers that add beauty and color to any landscape". Now how could I resist that? Anyway, the bulbs did sprout - I would check on them almost everyday. What's that saying . . a watched pot doesn't boil? First, (I'm sorry I didn't take pictures of their growth) the plants sprouted long, slender leaves along the length of the stem, and next large pods formed from which flamboyant flowers appeared:
These plants were so successful!!!
Aren't these lovely? The lily is certainly a "best pick" for someone just starting out in their garden and a proven winner for those who have been gardening for some time. ENJOY!
