It's the first Friday of the month and we're so glad Bring On the Crafts Blog Hop is back from summer vacation!
Today's the day we bring you a fun themed craft to share! And the theme for September is WOOD!
It's always fun finding holiday craft items at the dollar store - and it never disappoints when searching for a project. Take this unfinished wood pumpkin cutout hanger:
It's perfect for this month's Bring on The Craft's theme of Wood, don't you think! And there are probably at least one thousand and one ways it can be decorated, too!
So, I'm taking a quick and easy way to help make this wood pumpkin look whimsical! In fact, it already looks whimsical with the cutout eyes, nose and mouth. It just needs to be finished and ready for hanging for the best holiday event ever! Halloween!
You will need:
- Wood cutout pumpkin
- Acrylic craft paint
- Sponge brush
- Wired ribbon - 1.5" and 2"+ wide
- Hot glue
Begin by painting the wood a nice shade of orange and . . .
let dry.
Then start pulling one side of wire from the ribbon, gathering the fabric as you pull. Continue pulling wire and gathering the ribbon fabric until you have enough gathered ribbon to fit around the pumpkin shape. Once gathered, cut off excess wire leaving just enough to secure the fabric from unraveling.
Adjust the gathers and hot glue ribbon gathered side around the back of the pumpkin edge.
Glue on additional ribbon to cover eyes and mouth for a whimsical look!
So fun, quick and easy!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Julie! I hope you have a nice weekend, too!
DeleteMaybe I added a different type of wood... But I hope my twigs count! Cute idea for a link party, thanks:)
ReplyDeleteNo worries, Lynn! If it wasn't for twigs we wouldn't have wood, lol!
