Faux Birch Bark Candleholders for Winter Decor

Bring a touch of the popular birch bark wood indoors using faux birch bark paper! Say what? Yes! I found embossed birch bark wrapping paper on clearance at Pier1 and immediately thought of wrapping it around glass candleholders I found at the dollar store.

It's perfect to use anytime, especially just after Christmas when most of us are looking for winter décor to replace the holiday trimmings we just put away. If you can't find it at Pier1, Amazon has it,too!

Real birch bark is rather thick, so to make the covering a bit more realistic, I first measured a piece of white foam sheet around the length and width of the glass candleholder and .  .  .
then glued the foam using cement glue onto the paper, let dry and cut it out.

Doesn't it look realistic?

Next, it was time to glue it onto the glass container and the easiest and quickest way to do that was to use hot glue on the long edges, holding in place for a few seconds until dry.
I rubbed acrylic paint on the edges of the white foam to help make it look like bark.
What a simple winter craft project!
Now to find the perfect spot to display!

Thanks for stopping by
and take a little time to enjoy,
Happy Crafting!

  8. Gail I love this paper and have used it on so many projects in my home. And that is because it is so realistic looking. I had found mine over at TJ Maxx. The candleholders look all nice and snuggly in their new wrapping.
