Have you ever tried to make something with the plain grapevine garland that you see in craft stores? I was determined to make a pumpkin shaped wreath. You see them everywhere during the fall. Especially decorated ones on pinterest and etsy . I found some available to buy for fifty-nine dollars. I don't think so!
Anyway, I originally thought the wreath was one piece, soaked in water and manipulated to look round like a pumpkin.
Then after I made one, I read on pinterest that the wreath is actually three grapevine wreaths overlapping and wired together with an added twig shaped stem.
I'm here to tell you that this is not how I made my wreath. I wanted one that if you looked at it from the side, it would appear round or oval like a pumpkin. I must admit I had a hard time trying to accomplish this. At first I tried wrapping the already coiled garland into a pumpkin shape.
I twisted and wrapped, and tugged and bended, but just couldn't get it right. Then I decided to make a single pumpkin shape with a stem and go from there.
I thought it would be easier for me to cut the garland and insert the ends into the main part and wrapping the garland in place with twig wire to secure. Keep in mind that I didn't see that the pumpkin shape wreath could be done just by overlapping three garland wreaths together and securing with wire. So easy!
But I did it the hard way by inserting cut off garland pieces.
Cutting off the end piece and wrapping and blending together.
And then adding the cut off wrapped twigs for a straighter stem.
Voila!
Make sure to secure any loose twigs for a neater look. And be very careful.
Now decorate!
Now decorate!
