Flowers Flowing from a Galvanized Bucket

Just a short post on my latest creation  .  .  .flowers flowing from a galvanized bucket.

 How cool is this?

I started with a small shepherd's hook and a galvanized bucket that I had never used.  Added some petunias and hooked the bucket so it would hang sideways partially on the ground.  Fortunately the arrangement is in the path of our sprinkler system so the flowers get a dose of water ever so often. It's really best to punch a hole or two in the bucket for extra drainage.

It's been so hot here that I think the metal bucket might be "cooking" the flowers. They are beginning to look a bit straggly.

Some of you may not like the shiny galvanized look.  I read somewhere that spraying bleach on the metal and allow to dry in the sun would solve this. But I don't mind and will wait for the bucket to age naturally.

Galvanized garden decor is quite popular.  Makes for a great outdoor arrangement don't you think!

Take a little time to enjoy!

  1. That's really pretty, I'm thinking of adding some decorative flowers out the front I love this idea for that spot.

  2. I love this! Sooo pretty! It's fun to find different things to plant in. Using the shepherd's hook so the bucket could lean was a great idea.

  3. It sounds like a great way to use any extra pots that you have around the house as well.
The flowers colors are a delight!

  4. Gail, you purple sister! lol

    Love your petunia pot...looks great!

  5. Suzanne of Simply Suzannes at Home

Your flowers are so so pretty! I would love to do something like this in my garden too.
    Thanks for sharing!
    Have a beautiful week,

  6. Suzie @ Dorothy Sue and Millie B's too

    Very, very pretty....

  7. Great idea for tipping the bucket to allow the flowers to spill out. Love the color you chose :>) Was there any doubt? I once lined a flower bed with empty old buckets upside down, and my neighbor wanted to know what I was going to use them for. I explained I had used them - as a flower bed border!

  8. What a pretty idea, Gail, thank you so much for sharing! Thanks for linking up with Make Bake Create!

  9. It is a lovely display for the petunias! I like the idea of letting nature takes its course on the bucket too. We had some old iron trellis given to us and we used it for our beans this summer and I think it's cooking the beans so you might be right about the bucket too! Thanks for sharing, D@TheShadyPorch

  10. Oh Gail what a lovely pop of colour! So so pretty - I am really looking forward to Spring in a few weeks xxx Nat

  11. Another great idea Gail! I would have never thought to use that shepards hook to hold the bucket at a tilt. How fun!
