No Sew Duct Tape Heart Pouch

Here's the perfect handmade touch for Valentine's or just about any time of the year! An adorable heart shape duct tape pouch! Isn't it just too cute! And it's oh so easy to make - with no sewing involved (yay!)

You just need:
  • Heart template
  • Medium weight decorative fabric
  • Scissors/craft knife
  • Ruler
  • Duct tape
  • Zipper - 9-12"
1. Make a heart shape template - take 12"x12" paper, fold in half and draw a half of a heart shape.

2.  Cut out pattern and place open on folded fabric - right sides together.
3. Cut out two heart shapes.
4. Cut out strips of duct tape and place on the wrong side of fabric. It is easier to place duct tape on a self healing cutting board (if you have one) and use a craft knife and ruler to cut strips instead of scissors.

 5. Trim off excess duct tape around the hearts using scissors.
 6.  Divide one heart in middle and cut into two pieces.
7.  Take zipper and place on heart center edge with the zipper pull facing down. Begin stapling the length of the zipper on one side.
8. Take the other half of heart, fabric faced down, matching heart edge to the other side of zipper. Staple edge all the way,  opening zipper to make it easier to staple, if necessary.
Turn heart over to see attached zipper.
9. Turn heart back over and place small strips of duct tape to hold zipper down on one side.
10.  Place a regular size strip of duct tape over the staples and length of the zipper. Repeat adding small strips to hold down zipper and then a larger strip to cover staples on the other side of zipper, smoothing both sides out.

11. Cut off excess duct tape including the bottom of zipper. It's best  not to cut off the top part of the zipper at this point - like I did.
 12.  Place right sides of fabric together and  .  .  .
staple hearts together at least 1/4-3/8 inches all the way around  (I stapled too close to the edge). Add extra staples around the V area of the heart to make it more secure and sturdier when using the zipper. Be sure to open zipper half way in order to turn the finished heart inside out.
13.  Once the heart is completely stapled together, cut 1-3"strips of duct tape to fold over, covering both sides of the staples. Make cuts in the duct tape to smooth over the edges and curves to cover all exposed staples.

 14. Turn heart inside out. Add a decorative tassel to zipper pull.
Have fun filling with your favorite treats!

Thanks for stopping by

and take a little time to enjoy,

Happy Crafting!
