See how easy it is to dress up your front entryway for Spring with a DIY boxy shaped wreath and matching urn fillers!
This year I'm celebrating the arrival of spring by creating a unique looking wreath to place on my front door, using curvy sticks called Kulu sticks and a pretty flower garland that I cut to fit. I wanted to create something different from the usual round wreaths for my entryway and for the urns that are there, too.
To make this project, you will need:
Curvy sticks (Kulu sticks)
DecoArt Outdoor Patio paint/brush
Flower garland
Hot glue gun
8" Styrofoam ball
Large skewer sticks
Large skewer sticks
Floral pins
Faux ivy picks

I found the curvy sticks used here a few years ago at a craft store in North Carolina. They were originally a deep maroon color (now faded) and well over six feet long. I was really drawn to the unusual look! Michaels carries something similar in a natural or chocolate color called Kulu sticks.

To begin, I cut the sticks into four, 16" and 14" lengths and hot glued them together (where they touched) into a rectangular, boxy 16"x14" shaped wreath.
Then I painted the sticks using DecoArt Outdoor Patio Paint in Woodland Brown.
adding a few more flowers, here and there in the top left and bottom right corners, draping over the edges . . . keeping it pretty simple! I love the exposed shape of the frame!
Next, I cut an 8" Styrofoam ball in half and draped each half in garland and flowers, securing with floral pins. You can buy half foam balls to decorate, but I had this one already, so I cut it in half!
It's always fun to "shop" what you have in your stash for projects!
I hot glued a large skewer stick (used for grilling) in the bottom center of each half foam ball to place into the urns (not shown) - to help secure the foam in the dirt.
And finally, ivy picks were added to the front of each urn to enhance the flowers.
Don't you just love this inviting look!
