Tattoo Clear Ornaments DIY

It's Christmas in July and time to get an early start on making Christmas crafts! Have I got a fun way to decorate clear glass ornaments using temporary tattoos! And the best part, you won't believe how easy it is to make your very own tattoos in any design and color. All you need is a inkjet or laser printer and plain tattoo paper - and of course, clear glass ornaments! Does that sound cool to you? It does to me!

You know I love purple and finding pretty purple ornaments can be very difficult!  And I love making my own handcrafted ornaments, too! So can you imagine what fun it is making custom design purple temporary tattoos to decorate glass ornaments! Let me show you how!

You will need:

  • Clear glass ornaments
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Tattoo designs
  • Tattoo paper
  • Wash Cloth/towel
  • Water in spray bottle
  • Clear sealant

First clean your clear glass ornaments with rubbing alcohol to remove any dirt and grime or oil from handling.

Then find a design and color you like online, and create your own tattoos following the printable temporary tattoo paper instructions.

I found lots of lovely purple flowers and snowflakes online and selected these .  .

to print out on tattoo paper. Trim your tattoo to fit the area on the ornament and  position it on your ornament. Make sure to place ornament on a folded towel to keep from moving.

Next, spray the back of the tattoo with water and .  .  .

place a damp wash cloth over tattoo holding firm and tight for about 60 seconds. Be sure to also hold your tattoo and ornament as still as possible so you won't smudge the design.

Peel paper off and let your tattoo dry on the surface. If there are any areas that lifted, wet your finger and lightly tap and smooth the areas down.

Get creative with adding your favorite designs and colors.
Be sure to seal with your favorite sealant like Mod Podge!
How easy was that!
Looks beautiful!

  3. These turned out so good! I didn't know you could create your own tattoos. That's such a great way to customize items for those who don't have a Cricut! I absolutely love the purple snowflake ornaments with their embellished bows. Just perfect. Pinned!
