It's Day 3 and we're sharing a Snowman Craft!
I love recycling items to make crafts! It's such an inexpensive way to create something adorable by reusing items destined for the trash bin! And it was so much fun making this snowman using a Pom Pom bottle!
Doesn't the bottle already look like a snowman? You bet!
With a few quick changes and additions, it was an easy transformation!
To begin, clean the bottle with soap and water and let dry. Remove the neck of the bottle using a hot knife or craft knife.
Next, spray paint with white primer to cover up the lettering and let dry. You can also add small rocks or sand through the opening if you want to weigh down the bottle.
Then, glue on a Styrofoam ball for the head that's slightly smaller than the bottle. Using a sponge brush, dab on acrylic or chalk paint all over to give a textured effect.
Draw on the mouth using a Sharpie, add small wood branches for the arms by punching tiny holes on the sides, to fit the branches in, and hot glue in place.
To make the hat, roll a strip of stiff black felt around the head to measure size, cut off excess and glue ends together. Lay end opening on stiff felt and cut out a circle. Glue circle to one end of felt cylinder.
Cut a larger felt circle for the brim. Then cut slits from the center of the circle to where you want the brim to start. Insert brim into the open end of hat and glue down the slits inside.
Continue having fun adding embellishments to complete make your snowman to look festive! Just use your imagination for the details!
Black beads were glued on for the eyes, and the tip of a styrofoam cone painted orange, for the nose. Other embellishments included a ribbon neck scarf and trim on the hat, and red thumb tacks for a decorative touch on the front.
A Winter Wonderland Snowman!
