This pumpkin cranberry bread from Thel's Kitchen looks so delicious. It's the perfect comfort food as the weather starts to cool, and I think even my picky toddler would be a huge fan. I can't wait to try out the recipe! https://thelmaday.blogspot.com/2018/10/pumpkin-cranberry-loaf.html

A common problem among the older set, as Daphne reveals to us is that we do not know how to text properly! Her nephew came to the rescue and explained all the rigmarole to her over at Ivy, Phyllis and Me. https://ivyphyllisandme.blogspot.com/2018/10/daphne-getting-up-to-date-with-texting.html

Hot Glue Candle Drip DIY for Halloween

Hey! It’s that time again for another Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop! And this time I get to feature a cool idea for Halloween decor! If you aren’t familiar with this challenge, it’s basically a group of bloggers that get together each month to try a pin we’ve pinned to our boards. It’s a way of motivating ourselves (and you too) to not just pin, but to make it happen! You can see all of our pin projects at the bottom of this post, so check them out and see what inspires you!

It's fun getting in the spirit of Halloween decorating without being too creepy or ghoulish! My project was originally inspired by a creation I saw on Pinterest here.

The post is showing how to re-create the classic look of a wax dripped chiante wine bottle as a table decoration. Don't you just love the look of melted candles with the wax running down! Me too! I've used hot glue like this before for a wintry scene and I wanted to try my own version for Halloween!

Materials Needed:
Wine Bottle
Multi-surface acrylic craft paint - flat black
Halloween napkin (Dollar Tree)
Mod Podge/brush
Hot glue gun/glue sticks
LED twist-on tapered candle (Dollar Tree)

Begin by painting a clean wine bottle, black.
Next, separate the print layer of napkin from the backing.
Measure the printed napkin for placement on bottle and tear off the unwanted portion.
Brush mod podge on the bottle in sections. and lay the napkin over the mod podge and smooth out while wrapping around bottle.
Continue adding mod podge to the bottle and wrapping napkin around until the bottle is covered.  The dollar store napkin colors bled from the mod podge so I didn't add any additional mod podge over the napkin. Usually you do to seal it all over. But I did brush on more mod podge to seal down the napkin at the top edges to the bottle. Then let dry.
Once the napkin and mod podge has dried, begin adding hot glue in vertical lines over the top portion of the napkin back to the top of the bottle opening, letting the hot glue drippings run down. Be sure to et the hot glue drips dry before filling in with more glue over and between the first row drips or else it will look like a blob. Be sure to stagger the lengths of the hot glue drips, too.

Paint the LED twist-on candle black and let dry.
Insert candle into bottle opening and  .  .  .
add hot glue drips over entire candle and let dry.

Twist candle to light .  .  .
for an awesome Halloween look!

Folded Ribbon Goody Bag Favors DIY

It's natural that I have lots and lots of ribbon in my stash since I'm on the Bowdabra Design Team! I love making bows using this incredible tool to put bows on just about anything you can imagine! But anytime I get a chance to use ribbon for something other than bows I jumped at the opportunity - by joining this month's Craft Room Destash Challenge to feature my ribbon crafts!

So I came up with the idea to make these cute little goody totes, bags or pouches - whatever you want to call them - to give, as favors or gifts, or to use in a table setting! And the best part, you can use just about any type of wire ribbon that's at least four or more inches wide to make for any occasion, theme or holiday!

Materials needed:
Wired Ribbon - 4+ inches wide
Fabric-Tac Glue
Scissors/ruler
Jute Twine
Mod Podge
Burlap fabric scraps or ribbon
Clamps
Wired ribbon 1.5" wide (for rose)/embellishments

Begin by cutting one strip of four inch wide ribbon, 15 inches long. And two strips, 5 1/2" long.

Next, fold the longer strip at the widths of the shorter strips (you should have two folds). You can line up the strips as shown, if you want. *Next, all of the top edges should be folded and glued down first before gluing the sides together. (which I didn't do until later)

Then, take one short strip and line up the edges to the longer strip at the top and along the side edge. Begin adding enough glue to seal to the edges on one side of the short strip and then to the edge of the longer strip and press together to bond.

Once that side has bonded together, continue adding glue to the next side of edges of the short strip to the longer strip side and bond together. Make sure to add glue in the corners and press firmly together.
Continue to the third side, moving around the short strip, adding glue to its' edge and then the long strip edge to bond the two pieces together, as pictured.
Be sure to go around all three sides, pressing together, making sure all the edges are glued together, especially in the corners. Add additional glue if needed.
Repeat the steps to glue on the second strip - starting at the top side edge and
 then the bottom and .  .  .
 finally the side to .  .  .
 connect all the edges.
*I then realized that the top edges should have been folded and glued down first before gluing the sides together. So I had to open the sides and fold the top ends over (on each side) and glue down. And then glue the side edges back together for a finished look on the top.  I hope this wasn't confusing for you.
To make the handles, cut two strips of jute twine, eight inches long and dip in mod podge to make the twine stiff, removing excess glue with parchment paper or paper towel and let dry. Cut two small strips (7") of burlap scraps or from the ribbon and fold each one in half.  Cover half of the strip with glue and place curved twine on top. Fold the fabric strip over the twine edges and firmly press the piece together and let dry. Repeat for second handle.
Once dry, add glue to the handle strip and press it onto the inside edge of one side of the bag. Clamp to hold in place until dry. Repeat to add the other handle onto the opposite side and let dry.
To make a ribbon rose for embellishment, cut a 12" strip of 1.5" wide wired ribbon. Roll one end 3 or 4 times for the bud.
Pull wire from one side of the ribbon (on the opposite side) to gather the edges, wrapping the ribbon around to form a rose.

Cut off excess wire and glue the ribbon edge down under the rose.
Glue ribbon rose onto front of bag.

Additional little bags or pouches can be made by cutting a length of wired ribbon 15.5" long.  The length can be adjusted to make smaller or larger sizes.
Fold over both edges, 1/4" and glue down. Then fold fabric together at six inch mark. Glue each edge together at sides, wrong side together. Fold over flap to close.  Add rose or embellishment to outside flap.

Have fun deciding what kind of goodies to put in your adorable bag favors!
Every month a group of bloggers are challenged by C'mon Get Crafty to create a new craft or project from their own stash of goodies! Everyone is allowed a $10 allowance for necessities to complete their project, but the bulk of it must be created from their own stash of goodies.

Meet Your Hosts!
