Debbie Dabble has been to so many of our link parties and I always enjoy seeing what she's been up to. But when she shared this post it made me smile because I got to know a little more about her and her hubby Joe. Don't you just love his naughty smile and you look gorgeous Debbie. https://debbie-dabbleblog.blogspot.com/2018/08/fun-and-food-at-festival-2018.html

Salads are my favorite dishes during summer season. Dagmar from Dagmar's home gives us 5 delicious and refreshing ideas for salads. I am going to try all of them. What about you ?https://www.dagmarbleasdale.com/5-summer-salad-recipes-and-moonlight-mason-jars-link-party-205/

Oh my goodness. These literally stopped me in my scroll. Donuts are my absolute weakness when it comes to sweet. These are so gorgeous, though, they are almost too pretty to eat... Almost. You must go check these out from Yvonne over at StoneGable! http://www.stonegableblog.com/scrumptious-donut-halos/

I love seeing tutorials on all things upcycled, and was so amazed when I came across Claire @ Pillar Box Blue (isn't that name adorable) sharing how she upcycled an old handbag and tin cans into lovely pots! I especially love her techniques of using watercolor paints on the leather and then putting the pots together using needle and thread - a nice wow factor! You will surely enjoy reading her tutorial! https://www.pillarboxblue.com/leather-pen-pot/

You all know how much I love the beachy look. This post by Wendi of H2O Bungalow is chock packed full of ideas to make all our homes look beachy worthy. And all that blue!!! https://h2obungalow.com/beach-house-decor-ideas/

Our most popular post from last week's party was submitted by Kari @ A Grace Full Of Life! It was a very enlightening article on how she created a new kitchen with just one tool -  Paint! It looks lovely, Kari!

Palm Frond Tray DIY

I love visiting friends, Bob and Helen, in North Carolina! There's always something special to discover. This time it was palm fronds! Bob is very artistic and creative and stays busy creating decorative items. Just look how he transformed these palm fronds he found on walks around his neighborhood.

Aren't they fabulous! When I saw these, I couldn't imagine what Bob was talking about when he said they were from palm trees. Palm trees? I thought about coconuts, but not "palm fronds" - from around the trunk of the tree! He knows we don't have palm trees up north. At least none in an everyday outdoor setting. So as a crafter, I was completely smitten with the idea of upcycling fallen palm fronds into adorable pieces of decor. And I think Bob felt a bit sorry for me and presented me with one of his yard finds before we left! How sweet of him!

 Look how lovely this is!

I thought hard and long how I would transform my newly acquired craft piece. I even googled and looked on Pinterest to see what Palm Frond DIYS were out there. Not many! There were tons of pictures of wall hangings and decorative items and lots of painted fronds - some selling for hundreds of dollars. Can you imagine that? But not very many actual DIYs.

There were a few frond trays made with golf tee feet attached. My hubby had some golf tees that I considered using, but I couldn't imagine cutting them down to fit on the bottom - I just couldn't visualize it, even though I saw the pictures. Golf tees are quite tiny to begin with. I didn't see how they would work for me?  Besides, I had a different idea.

I already had some succulent pattern napkins and I found a bag of small cone shape wood pieces at Michaels .  .  .

just perfect for the bottom area of the palm frond.

And it didn't take many items to complete the tray:
  • Printed Napkins
  • Matte Mod Podge
  • Wood Cone Shapes - 6Pk.
  • Acrylic Paint/paint brush
  • DAP RapidFuse Adhesive
  • Faux Succulents
First, separate the layers of the napkin to use just the printed side. Because the napkin pattern was going in one direction, I tore it in half to apply separately. Then coat a generous amount of Mod Podge over the bottom portion of the frond, smoothing on the napkin over the Mod Podge.

Since the palm frond exterior is so hard apply additional Mod Podge over the top of the napkin and smooth out any wrinkles with your fingers.

Repeat the steps for adding the napkin to the bottom portion and let dry.

I'm loving this subtle look of print design!

Next, paint the wooden cone shape pieces for the legs and let dry.  Once dry, try-out placement of legs for best location for tray and glue on using Dap RapidFuse Multi-Purpose Adhesive.

The palm frond tray is all set to display - perhaps as a centerpiece .  .  .

filled with lots of faux succulents!

Or any type of decorative display tray - there are so many possibilities!
You decide!

Thanks for stopping by
and take a little time to enjoy,

Happy Crafting!

If this doesn't look like heaven on a plate them I'm not sure what does. Jen, over at Cincy Shopper shared her recipe for a no bake Reese's peanut butter cheesecake last week and I have been dreaming about it ever since.http://cincyshopper.com/no-bake-reeses-peanut-butter-cheesecake/

You know how much I love furniture transformations. This gorgeous china cabinet got a gorgeous makeover from Mary at Orphans with makeup. In love with every single detail !!! http://orphanswithmakeup.com/journal/2018/07/11/blue-and-white-china-cabinet-makeover-keep-it-simple/

I have been following little Princess' journey from China to her new home in the US for three years now. She is a very brave and special little girl and she is also lucky to have wonderful parents from A Day of Small Things. Her mom takes us on her medical journey and it will melt your heart. https://amykinsblog.wordpress.com/2018/07/22/a-broken-and-beautiful-smile-2/

I love how Katrina @ Kreativ K used tin cans to upcycle them into adorable vases! And the best part, she did it in two styles - did you hear me? One, using wood sticks and the other, marbled contact paper! How cool is that!

Oh boy! I bet you thought these were real pies - like I did, at first! But, no they're not! Debra from Dragon Fly Treasure shares how she makes this adorable Potpourri Pie craft - just perfect for gift giving or sweet smelling home decor! Be sure to check this out!
