Decoupage Coffee Creamer Vase DIY

I am a collector of all kinds of bottles, cans and containers. When I laid my eyes on this coffee creamer bottle, I knew exactly what I would do with it after I finished drinking what was in it, lol - the bottle was the perfect shape for a vase.
Even more so when the label was removed .  .  .
and then the neck, using a hot knife. Thought using the hot knife would leave a clean edge.
But I was wrong. it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. Had to file the opening to remove some plastic jagged edges.
Then sponged painted the bottle using chalk paint and let dry! A couple of coats gave it a nice finish. Did you know chalk paint and paint made for plastics is the only kind that will adhere to plastics? Acrylic paint will come right off!
I found a pretty napkin to use to decoupage the bottle. The flowers are nice and big and easy to tear out!
But first, paint on a generous amount of Mod Podge where you want to place the napkin design. Remove all the white ply layers from the printed side .  .  .
and gently lay the printed layer down on top of the mod podge.
Use plastic cling wrap to smooth out any wrinkles.
Once dry, apply more mod podge to seal.
Add additional napkin flower designs to complete the look around the vase, applying as before.

And be sure to cover up the opening edges with flower napkin designs and mod podge.
Once dry, use a nail file to remove any dry napkin overhand - filing down and inward to remove.
Would you believe I had faux flowers that mimic the purple ones in the napkin! How cool is that!
This coffee creamer makeover is perfect for this month's Craft Room Destash Challenge! I had everything I needed in my stash!

The challenge is held on the third Monday of the month where a group of bloggers are challenged by C'mon Get Crafty to create a new craft or project from their own stash of goodies! Everyone is allowed a $10 allowance for necessities to complete their project (i.e. paint brushes, glue, etc), but the bulk of it must be created from their own stash of goodies.

And because of what's going on in the world now, most of us are using whatever we have in our stash for our craft projects these days.

No Sew Lined Denim Bag

I recently made a denim bowl out of hubby's jeans and had lots of fabric scraps left over. The left over denim fabric was perfect to make a small shoulder bag for our Craft Room De-Stash Challenge. Who doesn't love using up scraps to make a project!
And I had everything else I used to make it in my stash, too!

And it's not just any denim bag, either! But a no-sew lined denim bag with an outside pocket!
Materials:
Denim Scraps
Scissors/Ruler/Clips/Pliers
Fat Quarter Fabric 18"x 22"
Fabri-Tac Glue
Metal or D-rings
Magnetic Snap
Lanyard clips

Instructions:
Measure and cut out an area around one of the jeans back pockets large enough for a small bag. (9" x 9 1/2")

Then line up that piece with part of the pant's leg to cut out for the back.

Next, place both pieces separately on the fat quarter material, edge to edge.
Run a generous amount of Fabri-Tac fabric glue along the tops of both pieces and seal together.
While the glue is drying, cut off two denim belt loops, smoothing them out .  .  .
then pushing the fabric loop through metal rings, folding over and gluing ends together, in place.

Spread the fabric and denim out, right sides up and glue loops down along edges at top denim side and clip in place until glue dries.

Then place right sides together, and run a generous amount of fabric glue 1/4" around the edges, leaving an opening to turn the fabric inside out. Be sure to smooth-out all of the glued edges and let dry.
Turn the piece inside out once the glue is no longer tacky and is completely dry. Then close the opening used for turning with additional glue and let dry.
Straighten seams and corners of the bag and check for any areas that might need additional glue.
Attach a magnetic snap for closing by inserting prongs into lining fabric and then closing prongs with pliers
I had a couple of old neck lanyards that I removed the end clip-ons and attached them to a cut off pants seam for the shoulder strap for a cool look!
Just perfect to carry an iphone, keys and wallet!

Ping Pong Ball Remote Control Lamp

I've had a bag of ping pong balls in my stash for a few years now.  It's been so long that I can't remember why I even bought them. What was I thinking?

Anyway, in looking around for inspirations on using these little balls, I came across a video showing how to make a lamp out of ping pong balls - basically by drilling holes, gluing the balls together and then inserting string lights into the holes. I didn't like that idea about drilling holes and wires so I came up with another way to make something similar.  My version is a cool looking lamp that's remote control for different color lighting  - and made with no drilling holes or wires to contend with! How fabulous would that be!  Here's how!

Materials used:
4" Round Vase Base Light w/remote control
Plastic top for ball ring shape
Ping Pong Balls
Hot glue/DAP Rapid Fuse All Purpose Adhesive
Glass dish/candle holder (stand)

Let's begin by finding a round plastic top large enough to hold a 4" base remote control light (from another project) plus space for the ping pong balls to fit around in it. So I'm using a 7" top from a storage container that I had.

Next, place the light source in the middle of the top to make sure the balls will easily fit around it. And then begin adding a dab of quick drying glue (permanent) or hot glue (not so permanent) to connect each ball to another ball to form a ring.

Twelve balls glued together easily fit in the top and around the light source.
Continue gluing more balls together to form additional rings .  .  .
one row at a time.
to form the height of the lamp .  .  . that you want.

I had enough balls to make nine rings - using a total of 108 balls, with a few left over.

With the light on - the lamp gives off an ombre effect.  So cool and perfect for mood lighting!

And then I decided to make a stand using a small glass plate and a
glass candle holder .  .  .
that the ball rings would sit on.

Stacking them on - row by row!

The rings easily stacked on each other and can be
glue permanently together .  .  .

for a wonderful effect!

How pretty!

That's where my ping pong ball stash comes in. A virtually free project that costs nothing to put together since I had everything in my stash! What an awesome de-stash project to feature!
