It's Day 12 and we are ready to Hang the Stockings by the Chimney with Care!
Yes, the stockings are hung . . . I love how the white fur trim looks against the purple & white buffalo plaid fabric!
I purchased two yards of fabric online and was able to use it to make quite a few projects - and with a bit of fabric left over for more projects, too!
Materials:
Buffalo plaid fabric
Template (posterboard)
Faux fur trim - 5.5" width
Needle and thread/scissors
1/4" Ribbon
To begin, Draw a stocking template (I used an old stocking) on a sheet of poster board and cut that out. Next, fold over the plaid fabric, matching the pattern and lines and pin the template on top and cut out two stocking shapes.
Next, take that stocking shape and match it to a second folded piece of fabric and cut out a second set.
Next pin the two stockings together, matching lines and pattern to hand stitch a 1/4 inch seam around the entire shape, leaving the top open.
Turn the stockings inside out, snipping curves and press.
Add hanging loops by folding together a twelve inch 1/4" ribbon and tacking it on at the top seam.
For the faux fur cuff, cut the 5.5" fur trim twice the width of the stocking, plus an extra 1/2" for the seam. With right sides together, hand stitch the ends together.
Attach the cuff to the stocking by placing it over the top of the stocking, right sides together . . .
and hand-stitch along the top edge a 1/4" seam allowance.
Pull the bottom of the cuff up and turn top edge inside to make a 1/2" hem. Secure by hand-basting.
After hanging the stockings, I added a small frosted tree that I covered the base with the same fabric. Adorable!
I hope you've enjoyed all the ideas and projects we shared for the 12 Days of Christmas Series! It's been a blast! Be sure to pin and share for future references.
