Decorative Holiday Ribbon Bow

It's the first Friday of the month and today's the day I bring you a fun themed craft to share at Bring On the Crafts Blog Hop!
The theme for November is Ribbon!

A bow ribbon adds the finishing touch to just about everything - whether it's a gift, home decor, or even fashionable clothing!  So why not put a bow on it this holiday season! I love making all kinds of bows! And here's a simple way to create an adorable decorative holiday bow that's gorgeous - perfect for gift giving and sure to impress! And the best part, you can adjust the length and width of the ribbon to make just about any bow size!

Materials needed:
4 - 7.5" strips 5/8" wide ribbon - reversible (design on both sides)
4 - 6.5" strips 3/8" wide ribbon - reversible
Hot glue
Decorative button or bling for center

Steps:
Let's start by cutting out four 7.5" long strips of 5/8" wide ribbon. It's best to use ribbon that's reversible with the same design on both sides, but you can also glue one sided ribbon together using fabric glue so the design will show on both sides.

Fold all the ribbon strips in half to find the center. Place one ribbon strip in a vertical position and add a dab of glue in the middle (where the fold is) and place a strip horizontal down on top of the glue at the fold.
Next,  add a dab of glue to the center at the fold and imagine creating an X with the ribbon strips and place a ribbon strip on the fold, slanted left. Then add a dab of glue in the center on the fold and place a strip down, slanted right.
Next, lift up the center ribbon end and fold over to make a loop, add a dab of glue in the middle of the ribbon strips and glue end down.
I am turning the ribbon strips around so that the next strip is always vertical and centered.
Then add a dab of glue to the center and fold the next strip end over, making a loop and down on top of the glue - holding in place until secure.
Continue repeating the previous steps until .  .  .

all the strips are glued down .  .  .
 for an adorable bow look!
Repeat steps to make a smaller version starting with four strips, as before.

Once all the loops are glued down and the second bow is finished, glue it in the center of the larger bow, with loops in-between loops.  And finally, glue on a decorative button or make your own bling like the one pictured.

Whimsical Wood Cutout Pumpkin

It's the first Friday of the month and we're so glad Bring On the Crafts Blog Hop is back from summer vacation!

Today's the day we bring you a fun themed craft to share! And the theme for September is WOOD!

It's always fun finding holiday craft items at the dollar store - and it never disappoints when searching for a project. Take this unfinished wood pumpkin cutout hanger:
It's perfect for this month's Bring on The Craft's theme of Wood, don't you think!  And there are probably at least one thousand and one ways it can be decorated, too!

So, I'm taking a quick and easy way to help make this wood pumpkin look whimsical! In fact, it already looks whimsical with the cutout eyes, nose and mouth. It just needs to be finished and ready for hanging for the best holiday event ever! Halloween!

You will need:
  • Wood cutout pumpkin
  • Acrylic craft paint
  • Sponge brush
  • Wired ribbon - 1.5" and 2"+ wide
  • Hot glue
Begin by painting the wood a nice shade of orange and .  .  .

 let dry.
Then start pulling one side of wire from the ribbon, gathering the fabric as you pull. Continue pulling wire and gathering the ribbon fabric until you have enough gathered ribbon to fit around the pumpkin shape. Once gathered, cut off excess wire leaving just enough to secure the fabric from unraveling.

Adjust the gathers and hot glue ribbon gathered side around the back of the pumpkin edge.
Glue on additional ribbon to cover eyes and mouth for a whimsical look!

So fun, quick and easy!

Roller Stamping Wrapping Paper DIY

Hey there! Guess what? It's the first Friday of the month and today's the day I bring you a fun themed craft to share at Bring On the Crafts Blog Hop!
The theme for this month is Stamps!

Have you run out of fancy wrapping paper? Here's a fun way to make your very own decorative wrapping paper using a rolling pin as a stamp! Sounds cool doesn't it? Perfect for this month's Bring on the Crafts theme!

And you just need a rolling pin - found this small silicone one at Walmart for $2.44, some lacy foam ribbon trim from the dollar store, cling wrap or paper, glue, acrylic craft paint, brush, and craft paper. No expensive tools to use or buy!
Roller stamping is so easy to do! First by covering the rolling pin with cling wrap to protect the surface so you can use it again and again! You can also use paper or cardstock to wrap the roller for protection.
Next, add on strips of the foam lacy ribbon trim, matching the pattern and .  .  .
gluing the ends together around the rolling pin. It should be centered and I didn't realize this is not! Oops!
Then, brush on acrylic paint using a paint brush or foam brush over all of the foam ribbon trim.
And begin rolling on the design on to the craft paper. It's best to use two hands but I had to hold my camera to take this picture! Lol!
Have fun roller stamping the designs on - using different patterns, going in different directions, or using multiple paints! I loved the look of the lavender paint color, so I stuck with just that!

Once you're finished with roller stamping the paper, the foam ribbon and cling wrap can be easily pulled off for another project!
Be sure to let the paint dry completely on the paper!
What a fun way to make unique, one of a kind wrapping paper!

I also used the lacy foam ribbon trim to wrap around the wrapping paper for a complimentary touch - twirling it around to make a rose bud for the center bow!
Have fun making your own personal roller stamping wrapping paper!

What an adorable project to share for this month's Stamp theme at Bring on the Crafts Blog Hop!
