We've all seen and admired animal topiaries somewhere along the way. It's amazing to see real foliage growing in the shape of animals. But who wants to spend a lot of time trying to train plants to grow a certain way - constantly cutting, trimming and watering! I know I don't! And it could take years to get it like you want! But wait - I've got a simple solution using a dollar store flamingo, faux boxwood and silicone adhesive to achieve the look! And it's oh, so simple!
Just paint a pink flamingo and legs (they're tucked in the neck) dark green to match the faux boxwood, and let dry.
Glue on larger pieces draping along the body, following the curves and alternating the direction of the boxwood . . .

Love this idea so much! All I need is a flamingo and some faux boxwood. This is going on my to-do list for sure! I had a couple of pink flamingos at our old home and they got faded in the sun. It would have been perfect to do this with them!

ReplyDeleteI love this, Gail! I saw those flamingos and wanted to do something to make it look less plastic and cheap, but I couldn't come up with anything. Your idea to cover it in faux boxwood is wonderful! How creative!
ReplyDeleteI love flamingos; I inherited my grandmother's which were oxidized to a pale, pale pink. Someone gave me another pair. Now the little ones--ceramic, resin, feathered, stuffed--multiply in the bathroom! This is a great idea. Thanx.
