DollarTree Vases

Mistakes happen.  Failures exists.  That's part of crafting.  I have been wanting to do something in mercury glass.  I cannot find any "Looking Glass" paint around here.  So I decided to try just plain  high gloss silver metallic spray paint.  People,  it just didn't work for me.  Maybe I did something wrong.  I used a light mist of vinegar and water (it smelled bad with the paint).  Although I must say, the INSIDE of the vase looked good.  Nice and glossy.  The outside, not so much.  DULL!  And, then there's the streaks and runs that appeared.  That didn't go away.  Blah, Blah Blah.  The vase sat around in my garage collecting dust.  I got tired of looking at it and decided to decorate it.  You've seen those lovely mercury vases with the glitzy ornaments glued to the outside?  Really blinged up, they are!  This is what I came up with:

 See the streaks and runs?
I tried sprucing it up with fillers and fluff  .   .   .

Since I bought a few vases, I would just decorate them and forget about doing the mercury glass thing.
Silly me dumped a bottle of DollarTree glitter glue on an upside down vase to see what would happen and the effect.

Interesting, I must say  .   .   .  the glue is really sparkly
After drying, I added a little decorative rub on:

I put a piece of red poster board behind the vase hoping the glitter would show up better.  It sure is different than anything I've seen lately.

For a final play with decorating Dollartree Vases, I used a rub-on and added some bling:

Hmm,  I'll just end with:  Mistakes happen, failures exists, and sometimes success!  You decide.

Take a little time to enjoy!

  5. I actually like your first piece and it's less than perfect finish that you created! I'm glad you decorated it and gave it another chance! It looks great! The glitter glue on the bottom of that other piece turned out really cool! I like how decorative you made it. You are definitely a crafty one!
